This post is a really fun and feminine one! I will be sharing with you my little girl Adeline’s nursery.
Right now I’m only 30 weeks pregnant but I wanted to finish the room as soon as possible so that I could relax in my third trimester. Also, you never know when something could come up which could potentially delay your plans. So the sooner the better!
In this post I will be sharing with you all the DIYs and items we purchased to decorate this ballet themed nursery. Of course I will link all the products where applicable so you can find more information if you need.
So let’s get started!
The Room
We converted our guest bedroom into Adeline’s room. Our master bedroom is on the top floor and all the kids rooms are on the middle level.
We will be sleeping in Adeline’s room with her until she is at least a year old. That way we can also be on the same level as the kids and if we get any guests they can sleep in our room upstairs.
Our closet is still in our bedroom though which is why you don’t see any space for our clothes in this room.
The Theme
I decided to go with a ballet theme for the nursery because I love the soft colors and I think it’s really girly and classic.
I thought I would be spoiled for choice when it came to finding decor for this theme but it was actually quite a challenge. This is why I ended up doing a few DIYs. More on that later in this post.

DIYs
Clothing Rails
I love an open concept for clothing organization! I remember with my first two babies I always thought it would be so much easier to have all their clothes hanging up instead of folded in drawers. In drawers things get hidden. Because of this many items went unworn and by the time I wanted to use them they no longer fitted.
When they are hanging everything is on display so you can immediately see all the clothes.
I spent a lot of time looking for the ideal closet with only hanging space. Eventually I settled on two clothing rails fixed to the wall.
This was the best solution because it takes up much less space and I think it looks really pretty to have all her clothes on display.
I had a really difficult time finding gold bars. They were either the wrong size or way too expensive. The simple solution I came up with was to buy the black bars and have my husband spray paint them gold. It was a quick activity on a Saturday afternoon and I just love how they turned out!
I managed to hang all her newborn, 0-3 and 0-6 months clothes on the hangers, apart from a few teeny tiny newborn pieces which don’t fit on the hangers which I put in the chest of draws.
Ballet Garland
As I mentioned earlier, I struggled to find ballet decor. I wanted to hang a ballet garland and I found one on Amazon but it didn’t have the right color scheme and it had a very long shipping time and I was impatient.
I went online and purchased a digital set of ballet images. Buying digital images is a great option for any theme because you can also have the images printed and put into frames to add to your decor!
I printed the ballerinas onto card stock on my home printer and cut them out. Then I stuck them onto a long pink ribbon, spacing them out far enough apart to fit a wooden heart between each ballerina. I bought the wooden hearts for €1 a pack at the local Kik.
Name Sign
I absolutely love how this name sign turned out! I wrote a separate blog post on how I made it so you can read more about it here.
So there you have it! That’s our little ballerina’s room and I’m so excited for her to use it.
If you are looking for some more children’s room inspiration, checkout the post I made on my boys’ transport themed bedroom last year.
I absolutely loved that theme and so did the boys but now that they are older I decided to give their room a new look. We just redid their room to give them a dinosaur theme so stay tuned for a post on that coming out soon!
Sincerely,
